Isn't it obvious that eliminative materialism is the only possible explanation for consciousness?


Eliminative materialism is the doctrine that consciousness doesn’t exist. So no, it is not even an explanation, let alone the best one. Presumably, your point is that some form of materialism must be correct—which is surely correct, given that mind and body interact and given that the physical world is causally closed. But that point, though presumably correct, does not constitute an explanation of consciousness, only a restriction on the range of possible explanations.
